FAQs & Info about public bus tours in Costa Rica

General shuttle bus tours

For those of you who doesn't want to drive by yourself and don't like to travel with a group, this is the ideal way to see the most important sigths of the country. The shuttle buses run daily between the main tourists areas. You will be picked up at your hotel and brought to the next hotel. This is a good way to travel fast and inexpensive from city to city without having to sit for hours in a public bus.

Important to know about this kind of tour is that only the most-known tourist destinations will be visited. These buses don't go to very remote lodges and hotels. In addition, you should know that when arriving at the hotel or in the destination you have to take a taxi or other transportation to visit national parks or go to a restaurant for dinner. One piece of hand luggage and a main luggage (suitcase, backpack or travel bag) per person is allowed.

Why prefer a shuttle bus?

In Costa Rica, the public bus system is very well developed, but we recommend that you rather make use of the semi-private shuttle bus connections. Why? - Public buses are quite cheap, but often overcrowded and simply take a long time from point A to B. In addition, you do not bring the public right up to the hotel but only up to the main terminal or bus stops. To rely with luggage often additionally on taxis.

The semi-private shuttles run daily routes between the most famous destinations in the country and pick you up at the hotel and take you to the next hotel in the next region. This is a very simple and safe travel option for all guests who do not want to drive yourself.
